    DSCN4425

As natives of Massachusetts, we Looooove our Red Sox!!!  When Andrea’s sister hooked us up with tickets we could Not refuse!!!  Because we are poor bitches we were stuck in the Bleachers!!! Hahaha!!  But regardless of where you sit, Fenway is the place to be during baseball season!!  Red Sox fans are passionate, crazy people that want their team to dominate and have a good time watching it happen!! Everyone is dancing, singing, cheering and jeering all the while downing the golden amber of Bud Lite and mowing on a Fenway Frank!!

DSCN4420One major reason why Fenway is sooooo great is that it is sooooooo old.  It is one of the last remaining inner-city major league baseball parks in the country.   This makes for a more personal and entertaining experience.  Even the scoreboard is a rarity.  It is one of the last hand-operated scoreboards with green and red lights used to signal strikes, balls and outs.  Fenway has character, character that you just can’t get at Yankee Stadium!

Next time you are in the hood, shell out $50 and get to Fenway!!  Trust us you Won’t forget it!!!

    Yankees SUCK!!!

  • neil-diamond1Red Sox Nation takes its traditions Very seriously!!  One slip up and we could lose the World Series and we all know how heart crushing that is to Beantown!!

Chanting “Yankees Suck” at Every single game no matter if we are playing them or not, slurring obscenities over empty bud light cups and singing “Sweet Caroline” during the seventh inning stretch are just a few of what to expect each and every time you hit the stands at Fenway!

Now really?  Does Neil Diamond have anything to do with Red Sox Nation?? How may you ask did a song about hooking up with a sweet lil lady named Caroline become the anthem of the seventh inning stretch??

Well we are here to answer this puzzling question for you!!

Thanks to Miss Amy Tobey, who was the Fenway music director from 1998 -2004, heard the sweet tune at other sporting events and decided to throw it into the lineup.  Tobey thought of “Sweet Caroline” as a good luck charm.  It became a staple in between the sixth and ninth innings but only if the Sox were ahead.  Soon fans expected to hear Mr. Diamond blaring across the park towards the end of the game regardless of the outcome.

When the Sox were bought in 2002, the new ownership asked for the tune to be played at every game during the 8th inning!  And that my friends is how the union of  “Sweet Caroline” and the Red Sox came to be.

  • PopeA Limerick is a five-line poem written with one couplet and one triplet.  Limericks are meant to be funny. They often contain hyperbole, idioms and puns. The last line of a good limerick contains the ‘punch line’ or ‘heart’ of the joke.

There was a young girl from Rabat,

    who had triplets, Nat, Pat and Tat;

It was fun in the breeding,

    But hell in the feeding,

When she found she had no tit for Tat.

  • Cambodian Cuisine

Pho, it’s what’s for breakfast!  Rice noodles in a beef broth with different cuts of beef in it, these could include steak, fatty flank, lung and any other organ.  It is served with bean sprouts, lime and greens.  It is tasty, cheap and widely available!  Every street corner has a pho stand!

The limes in Southeast Asia are a cross between lemons and limes.  They are smaller and sweeter and perfect for making sweet, sweet limejuice.  Pretty much a lime smoothie!!  Cool and refreshing, perfect for those hot, hot Cambodian days!!

    The Khmer Empire

One of the first things that one learns while on the road is that you Cannot do or see Everything!!  You have to pick and choose the things that you want to do and the things you are o.k. missing out on.  Sad but true!!

Our experience at Angkor Wat is a prime example of this lesson.  Angkor Wat consists of hundreds of temples and takes up to three days to see all of them!! The main temple and most famous is Angkor Wat itself!  Because we had decided to work with a school a half hour outside of Siem Reap, we only had about half a day to see the temples.

Since Angkor Wat is the most famous we decided to head there.  It is the symbol of Cambodia today, gracing the nation’s flag.  It was built in the 12th century for King Suryavarman II.  It is the largest religious structure ever built, and it is roughly 1,000 years old.  It is the epitome of classical Khmer architecture and the best-preserved temple, or wat, on the site.

Hopefully, one day we will make it back to Cambodia.  When we do we will dedicate three full days to Angkor to see for ourselves the extent of the Khmer Empire at its finest…unless something else comes our way!!  ;)

  • Asian Karaoke

    Wang

Once again do not assume when traveling!! Karaoke, Asia Style is not what you think it is!!

On our last night on the motorcycle adventure we were asked if we wanted to go to karaoke!  “Heck Yeah,” we said!! We ran back to our rooms to get so fresh and so clean to hit the karaoke bar!!

RoadNow when we think of a karaoke bar we imagine of a bar full of people getting crunk with an American Idol reject at the front serenading the crowd.

This is Not the case in Asia.

We walked out of our hotel waiting for a tuk tuk to take us to the bar.  However, all we were doing was crossing the courtyard of the guesthouse we were staying at… and it was Not a bar.

It was a room that you rented by the hour.  Fresh fruit, snacks and beer abound!  Pretty much, you sit on couches with your friends and sing your heart out together.  No audience.

So here we were, sitting in this room with our two Vietnamese tour guides while they belted out love song after love song.

Finally, we broke down and busted out rhymes to “Gansta’s Paradise” by Coolio and flexed our pipes in “Always Be My Baby” by Mariah Carey.  Needless to say, we will be hitting up record companies pretty soon with our newly discovered talent!!  ;)

The next morning we drove into Saigon…Motorcycle

Hanoi ain’t got nothing on Saigon when it comes to motos!!  They decimate the streets!  There are over 4 million motorbikes on the streets of Saigon, and we were in the middle of it.

CarloadKinsey’s Guide to Better Living, Chapter Nine: Entrails should Never be consumed!!!

Heading out on the highway for a four day Easy Rider adventure with our favorite tour guide…Wang!!!!  From Da Lat to Ho Chi Minh City, these next couple of days were going to be Wild!!

You don’t just haul ass for four days straight cause that is just Too hard on your butt!!  Making stops throughout the day to see the sites and flex our gluteus maximus muscles!!

Now when you think of a roller coaster what comes to mind?!?!?  Exactly, a track that people ride in small cars on with really steep slopes and narrow turns to pump up the adrenaline junky in all of us as we barrel down the incline at rapid speeds!!   Boy, were our assumptions wrong on this one!! In the land of Vietnam, a whole nother countray, roller coasters are different!!  How so you may ask??!?!  Well for one you control the speed of the car with a brake that you use to keep the car at a sight seeing pace!! If you go to fast and someone is in front of you, you can and will slam into them at an enormous speed!!  Making you responsible to any and all injuries/lives.  We did not realize these rules until after we barreled into the automatic brakes at the end of the coaster and three attendants were waving and yelling at us to slow our butts down!!!!  Oooopps!!  Thank God all railways were clear!!
